Uttar Pradesh State Government is going ahead to built International airport at Agra. State and Central government has given the permission and very soon land will be marked for site. Earlier Airport Authority of India (AAI) team made visit to Agra to find the possible location for airport and pointed out the Dhanuali village area adjacent to Kheria AIrforce Base but  proposal was rejected considering the huge monetary compensation required against village agricultural land acquirement. So now Aviation minister is considering for unused land of Indian Airforce  at Kheria for which discussions have been made.

As world’s third most popular monument “Taj Mahal” is located in Agra city and it remain a must visit destination of tourists from other country as well as domestic visitors. Road and train connectivity of Agra city is good but flight connectivity of city is poor and their is need for good flight connectivity to ensure better tourism infrastructure of city. At present tourists are reaching Agra by road or train and nearby airports are at Gwalior, Delhi, Jaipur. Presence of International Airport will definitely boost the Agra Tourism.

In addition to this state government has given approval to widen the approach road of Taj Mahal so that movement will be more smooth for tourists.

ImageTwo most popular luxury tourist trains of India i.e. “Palace on Wheels” & “Rajasthan on Wheels” will undergo complete renovation based on guests feedback and past experience. Both are popular luxury tourist trains operated under close cooperation of Indian railways and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC).

Under renovation work its heritage look and princely life-style experience will be maintained with change in water supply system, entertainment services, flooring, door system and introduction of new superior communication system in service of customers. Engineers will also work on the possibility to increase the train speed so that guest may have more time to spend on destinations.

Palace on wheels train route covers as: Delhi – Jaipur- Sawai Madhopur- Chittorgarh – Udaipur- Jaisalmer- Jodhpur- Bharatpur- Agra – Delhi in 08 days.

Rajasthan on wheels train route is: Delhi – Jodhpur – Udaipur – Chittorgarh – Ranthambore – Jaipur – Khajuraho – Varanasi – Agra – Delhi in 08 days.

Despite of all renovation work, management is trying to maintain same tariff in on going season.

In a recently concluded 37th session meeting of UNESCO World Heritage Sites committee, decision have been made to induct 6 majestic forts of Rajasthan state in World Heritage Sites list. They are new additions for India. These forts are:

  • Amber Fort at Jaipur
  • Chittorgarh Fort
  • Kumbhalgarh Fort of Mewar
  • Jaisalmer Fort
  • Ranthambore Fort in Sawai Madhopur
  • Gagaron Fort at Jhalawar

This time all the hill forts are from Rajasthan state which is already popular among tourists for its beautiful forts, palaces, havelis and colorful culture. Induction of forts ensure their better care and conservation. At the same time it will encourage more heritage tourism in Rajasthan and encourage other states to take care of heritage monuments in their states.
